Shamrock Shake Dip
Everyone’s favorite minty green milkshake from McDonald’s turned into a fun Shamrock Shake dip dessert recipe to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!
I’m back from Chicago and ready to dive face first into this Shamrock Shake Dip. After a horrible first half hour in the city (as dramatically told in this post about getting my wallet stolen on the train in Chicago), I ended up having a wonderful time. We froze our butts off most of the trip, but got to experience the great food there (authentic deep dish pizza, anyone?) and hit up some famous tourist spots like the Bean and Navy Pier. Needless to say, I guarded my belongings with my life on the train ride back to the airport!
This Shamrock Shake dip. Chicago must have been good for my creativity because I thought of this idea while I was sitting in the hotel room one day while Mr. Wishes was off to work. I saw another blogger on Instagram create the cutest cupcakes ever by turning a Shamrock Shake into cupcakes – genius! I had been wanting to do some sort of original twist on the Shamrock Shake and thought why not make a dessert dip out of it? Everyone loves a good dessert dip. It is a very rare occasion where I “Google” something and it has never been done before, but this was one of those rare times.
I started jotting down what I thought could be in the dip to make it taste like it could be a thickened up version of a milkshake so as to be able to hold together as a Shamrock Shake dip. It turned out exactly like I had pictured it in my head. You can serve this dip with whatever dippers you choose, but I served it with chocolate graham crackers. The flavor combination of chocolate and mint go together like milk and cookies, obviously.
I hope you enjoy what I came up with for this Shamrock Shake Dip and serve it to your friends at your St. Paddy’s day party! You can thank my trip to Chicago – it was very inspiring 🙂
If you’re more into the Shamrock Shakes, I have a Homemade Shamrock Shake recipe you will love. It has just the right amount of mint! I also have collection of St. Patrick’s Day recipes. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
- 1 Box of White Cake Mix
- 1 Container (8 oz.) of Cool Whip
- 1½ Cup of Vanilla Yogurt
- 1 Teaspoon of Mint Extract (not Peppermint)
- green food coloring
- Dippers of choice (chocolate graham crackers, animal crackers, etc.)
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients together (not the dippers).
- Add enough drops of green food coloring to get your desired shade of green. Mix.
- Place the bowl in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to chill and firm up before serving.
- Top with a swirl of whipped cream and a cherry on top right before serving!
Pinned to my St. Pats Day board!
