I’m already being asked for my cookies for Christmas and when I will start baking them, so here I am baking pretty much for the rest of the year non-stop. For most of the cookies, the dough needs to be rolled into a ball using your hands, and then you insert your thumb in the middle to flatten it and fill with jelly or whatever filling the recipe calls for. Kids can use their sensory skills and imaginations and make it sort of like a Playdough session that results in tasty, yummy cookies.
My favorite thumbprint cookies are the ones with the jam, but I really, really enjoy all kinds of thumbprints. There’s not a Christmas that goes by that I don’t make them or multiple kinds. For some reason, I have never been able to resist them no matter what the filling may be.
