Southern Mississippi Comeback Sauce
Southern Mississippi Comeback Sauce is the perfect versatile dipping sauce recipe for french fries, hot dogs, burgers, as a salad dressing and more!
It seems only fitting that I came back from Texas recently and am sharing a southern classic with you today. While I have never actually been to Mississippi where this sauce originated (Jackson), I love this type of sauce and the flavors are awesome. You can pretty much serve it with anything!

Guys, I absolutely fell in LOVE with San Antonio. I told Mr. Wishes that I strangely “felt at home” there. No, mom, you can relax – I’m not moving! I had lunch with my mom and my aunt Sheryl today for my mom’s birthday and told them how much I loved San Antonio. My mom asked me if I loved it as much as Annapolis and I had to think really hard about that. Overall, my favorite cities so far are San Antonio, Annapolis, and Savannah, Georgia! They all have won my love for different reasons (a wonderful combination of weather, food, atmosphere). If it weren’t for my family and the amazing restaurants and bakeries in Rochester I would be so long gone! You can see what is most important in my life: family and food.
Enough with my crazy tangent and back to the Southern Mississippi Comeback Sauce. Can I count Alabama as being “close enough” to having been to Mississippi? Yup, I totally made Mr.Wishes take a HUGE detour and bring me to the Chattahoochee river years ago while we were driving from Georgia to Pensacola, Florida. Another bucket list item that got a big ol’ check mark on the list.
All that matters here is this sauce is amazing and goes with so many different foods, as does this Honey Chipotle Sauce I found from my friend Jocelyn or this Alabama White BBQ Sauce! My Homemade Chicken Sausage Corn Dogs are just begging to be dipped in this Mississippi Comeback Sauce! It would also be amazing on my Cheddar and Spinach Pesto Chicken Burgers. Make it for your next cookout or BBQ.

Mark loves sauce on all his food, so I am printing this out immediately, and I’m going to make this for him! Thanks!
I hung out in San Antonio years ago and loved it! Such a fun town. Love the sound of this sauce.
I want to taste this! I bet it would be amazing with a shrimp boil!
Love that idea!
OOOOOOOH, I’d put this sauce on everything!! And I would love to go visit San Antonio one day!
Wow, loving all the flavors in this sauce! I want to dip some sweet potato fries in it, ASAP.
I am from Mississippi. I can’t wait to try your Comeback sauce. My brother and I have a sibling rivalry when it comes to Comeback. He thinks his is the best and I of course know mine is better. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
Thanks so much Michelle! Love it!
