Happy Tuesday! It’s that time of year – it’s Hot Chocolate Recipes Season. I’m here for it. If you thought my Slow Cooker Snowflake White Hot Chocolate, wait for this one. Does anyone else feels like the days last forever with the time change? I know I say this every year. It literally is dark out by 4:30 and it’s kind of sort of depressing in a lot of ways.
I feel like I have no daylight to enjoy and 5:00 feels like 9:00. Would it kill the sun to shine once in a while? I mean, really. I do like being all cozy and warm inside on these cold, winter days so I’ll try to look at the positive. In my old age, I like excuses to stay indoors and do nothing.
Mr. Wishes always said in order to enjoy winter you need to find a hobby you like to do in the cold. He enjoys snowboarding. I’ve yet to find anything that makes me happy to be freezing cold and shivering while I’m doing it.
We went to our city’s holiday festival downtown the other day. I literally was in the worst mood because I was so cold. It was 37 degrees, so really not even that bad. The wind chill did me in, though!
This Crock Pot Caramel Hot Chocolate, you guys. this is the only thing I need while I’m hibernating inside doing nothing all winter long. Drinking this Crock Pot Caramel Hot Chocolate can be my winter hobby. Yeah, I like that idea. Mr. Wishes can go out snowboarding and enjoy his frostbite while I’m inside the lodge (or wherever) drinking this chocolate and caramel goodness.
Those times when you want to have a BIG batch of a hot beverage on hand for your holiday gatherings and parties? This is the recipe that you want. If you want something really fun for kids and GREEN, this Grinch Hot Chocolate is what you want.
Whatever you choose to make, you literally just dump all of your ingredients into the crock pot and stir occasionally. You really can’t mess this up. Keep it on warm for the duration of your party and you’ll have some happy little Christmas guests at your house! Everyone can help themselves throughout the night.
For the adult version of this Crock Pot Caramel Hot Chocolate, get crazy and add some Kahlua, Peppermint Schnapps or Rum Chata! Perfect for a chilly fall or winter evening. I have been known to do this with my Creamy Crock Pot Hot Chocolate from time to time.
Recipe Tips:
This will come out tasting it’s best if you use high quality chocolate chips like Ghiradelli.
You can substitute milk chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips for the semi-sweet. You can also use a combination of two different types. This is totally up to you.
I like to melt some caramels in the microwave for 30 seconds and drizzle around the inside of mug before serving! It kicks it up a notch.

The early dark is really a bummer, isn’t it? But soon the days will start getting longer again! This lovely drink will help us cope — really neat recipe. Thanks!
