Watermelon Strawberry Banana Smoothie {Dairy Free}
Did you all have a nice weekend? We had a lot of fun kayaking with our friends Friday night and finished it off with a surprise birthday party for our friend, Cheryl. Saturday was spent working in the yard from the moment we woke up until 8 o’clock at night before heading out to dinner on the canal and getting frozen yogurt with friends on Park Ave. I love having a house, a yard and a neighborhood, of course, but man is it a LOT of work! Our yard required a ton of attention when we moved in last fall and we had big dreams for it. Well, I’m happy to say that it is looking greener and healthier all the time, so it makes it all worth it. It’s amazing the sense of accomplishment you can get from doing all of the hard work on your own and seeing good results!
It’s going to be in the 90’s here all week and this hot weather makes me crave cold, refreshing smoothies. I normally like to just throw in whatever fruit I have on hand, but this time I decided to actually measure what I was adding in and also use watermelon in a smoothie since I had some that needed using. I hadn’t thought of using watermelon in a smoothie before this and I loved it! It has a much different effect…it is much lighter, less rich, and has a slightly sweet taste.
INGREDIENTS:
1 banana, broken into chunks
1.5 cups seedless watermelon, chopped
5 frozen strawberries
1 tablespoon raw honey
about 4-5 ice cubes
DIRECTIONS:
Sounds like a great weekend! It’s going to be a brutal week, hottest one yet this summer, and with all our watermelons growing, I’m going to enjoy this smoothie in the AC!
I’m bracing myself for this heat wave!!
Smoothies are my favorite thing right now – adding watermelon sounds great! Yards can definitely be a lot of work, but it is worth it because they are like a little oasis.
Thanks, Laura! I agree – definitely worth the hard work!
Although a yard is a a lot of hard work, I do wish I had one. That extra room would be a dream come true. Loving the combination of this smoothie!
Thanks, Nicole! Yes, yards are a lot of work but I’m sure thankful to have one 🙂
This sounds so refreshing and perfect for the 90 degree weather we have! 🙂
Amen to that!
I LOVE the additional of watermelon to the traditional strawberry/banana smoothie. This is SO perfect for the Summertime :).
Thank you, Hannah! I think I will be adding it to more smoothies in the future!
Oh, I need to try watermelon in a smoothie!! I’ve made it with a juice before so I know it has to be good in this!
Sounds like you had a great weekend and you looked so pretty on Park Ave! I don’t own a home currently so I can’t relate to the extra work but I’m sure it is very rewarding. And a good workout too! 🙂
Thanks for the nice comment, Sarah! It definitely is rewarding AND a good work out..I think I’m still sore from it 🙂
The smoothie looks perfect for summer!
Thank you, Nessa!!!
My husband and I bought our first house last fall and we love it! It’s true there’s a lot of work involved but we love it as well too. Sounds like you had a great time on your kayaking trip. This smoothie sounds refreshing. I adore watermelon so I know I’ll love this. Have a great week Ashley! 🙂
Looks like we bought our first homes around the same time! Too funny 🙂 I hope you have a great week, also.
I never thought of adding watermelon to a smoothie – AWESOME idea!!
I didn’t think it would be as good as it was, honestly!
Yum! I love the addition of watermelon to the already delicious strawberry banana. Very resourceful! (:
haha, I try! Thanks!
I love kayaking! I bet it was a great time for you.
This drink looks great. I love smoothies!
Thanks, Julie! Kayaking is so much fun in the summer 🙂
Refreshing and delicious looking smoothie! I just saw in your profile that you live in Rochester! I’m just outside of Buffalo.
No way! Who knew that we were “neighbors”?! 😉
Watermelon is just the perfect summer fruit. Love it!
Thanks, Ashley! It really is 🙂
I have to agree with you about the yard work…that’s why I leave it up to my husband. He loves it…so I let him!
Sounds like you had a fun weekend! (We were boating all weekend. We live 10 min from 2 different lakes.) So pretty over there…thank you for sharing the pics! (btw, you’re so pretty!)
Oh, and love this smoothie! (=
My hubby doesn’t mind it, either! I don’t mind most of it…but I’m not a fan of the gardening/weed-pulling 🙂 Thanks for the nice comment, Gloria!
This smoothie is beyond delicious and refreshing 😀
Cheers

P.S Because of my exams, I will not be commenting for around 4 weeks – see you afterwards!
Good luck on your exams!! See you when they are all done!
Now that’s a smoothie I haven’t tried before and all ingredients I already have on hand. It sounds so refreshing. I can’t wait to try it. Thanks for the recipe!
I hope you like it!!
I keep hearing how hot it is in the USA at the moment. We could do with a little heat here! I love the look of your smoothie and this is the perfect way to cool down xx
It’s so hot here! And my air conditioner picked a great week to break 🙁 haha.
Oh my gooooooosh, in the summertime I eat watermelon cooooonstantly. I waaaaant this smoothie right now!!
I love me some watermelon 🙂
Gosh, it’s been hot here the last few days, and going to be hotter the next few. So I’ll need to cool off, ad this smoothie is the perfect way to go! Great flavors – I love them! Thanks so much for this.
Same here, John! It’s a sauna!
Why didn’t I think of that? Watermelon would be perfect in a smoothie! My fiance came home with a humongous watermelon yesterday (seriously though, the thing was like 50 lbs!) and it is taking up valuable space in the fridge. Problem solved. Smoothies for dinner!
I hightly recommend putting it into a smoothie!
I don’t know why I had never thought about adding watermelon in a banana strawberry smoothie. But we will give it a try next time. My husband always loves adding popping bobas in his drink. Where is the canal that’s in your picture located? It looks so peaceful.
I wasn’t sure how it would taste but ended up loving it! Thanks for stopping by my page 🙂
P.s. The canal was in Pittsford, NY
