Chocolate Covered Cherry Protein Shake
Rich and creamy Chocolate Covered Cherry Protein Shake recipe tastes like like a chocolate covered cherry in liquid form. You will forget you’re drinking a healthy milkshake!
Mr. Wishes is overly obsessed with fresh cherries! As in, he seriously has a problem and he needs help. They are his favorite fruit of all time and I am always trying to find creative ways to use them while they are in season. He plows through them like there they are going out of style so I have to get to them while I can!
He didn’t object to me using up some of his precious cherries for this bad boy. I have been all about the protein shakes lately. They are simply the best for meal replacements (like this peach pie version) or before/after a good workout. I made this chocolate covered cherry protein shake using the new Mighty Nut chocolate powdered peanut butter. This stuff is awesome! It’s the perfect blend of rich cocoa with their powdered peanut butter to add nutrients and deliciousness. The only combination that might be better than chocolate and cherry is chocolate and peanut butter. The powder adds lots of nutrients and is an easy way to add extra protein to shakes and smoothies. You can totally bake with it, also.
Cherries are loaded with antioxidants, beta carotene, vitamin C, potassium, magnesium, iron, fiber and all kinds of other good stuff. The chia seeds help to add a little extra protein to the smoothie as well as adding a healthy dose of omega-3’s. Are you sold yet?
I’m not even the word’s biggest chocolate fan (not even by a long shot), but I thought, “What goes better with cherries than chocolate?!” Nothing…the answer is nothing. The rich colors, the perfect taste – you just need this in your life. It’s the best tasting and best looking shake I have made thus far.
So get out your blender and whip up this sexy beast smoothie/shake…whatever you want to call it. Yes, I just called food “sexy”. Enjoy!
- 1 cup frozen dark cherries
- ½ frozen banana, peeled
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- 1 cup unsweetened vanilla cashew milk (or almond milk)
- 2 tbsp chocolate powdered peanut butter (I used Mighty Nut brand)
- ¼ water
- 1 tbsp peanut butter (I used Peanut Butter & Co. Smooth Operator)
We love fresh cherries too! Has Mr. Wishes tried the Rainier cherries yet? They are white and super sweet (not tart). Those are our favorites… next to this shake, of course! 🙂
This milkshake is calling my name. I love cherries and chocolate together. Yummy.
I need to try that chocolate powdered peanut butter! Sounds delish. And this is a great looking smoothie!
We bought a cherry pitter last summer and that renewed our love for fresh cherries – I’ve always loved the taste but hated the hassle of spitting out the pits! This shake is going on our must make list!
I love cherries too! I wish they weren’t so messy to eat
Sounds delicious! I am so intrigued by the powdered peanut butter now.
I love fresh cherries! It is just so had to get really good ones in our grocery stores! And you are right, chocolate is the best with cherries!
We love cherries and can’t get enough of them in cherry season. I know someone that would be pretty happy if I made them this protein shake…love it!
Ashley, I did not know that PB&Co now has powdered peanut butter flour – thanks so much for this info! I cannot wait to get my hands on some! BTW – Saw this on IG and girl – droolcentral ensued!
You can’t ever go wrong with chocolate covered cherry ANYTHING. Ever. Sounds fantastic!
I am obsessed with cherries too. I eat them all the time (including this morning for breakfast!) and I buy way too many. I have been posting pretty much all cherry recipes too. Love this shake!
You got me wanting to run out and get some powdered peanut butter! This looks and sounds great. My husband is also a big fan of cherries. I think he would love this, because he is also very into drinks (like coffee drinks). I could make a meal out of this!
Ha! Great minds definitely do think alike! Love this chocolate covered cherry shake!
This is perfection. I’m like Mr Wishes, I eat cherries nonstop during cherry season. Now I can sip on this while I eat them!
Is this a good morning replacement meal for breakfast? Sounds like it is sweet for breakfast. Also I can’t find mighty nut powdered peanut butter in my local grocery store. The sales lady said to replacement it with Reeses Chocolate Peanut Butter. What do you suggest?
