In a medium bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon and nutmeg
Stir in pecans
Add butter to form crumb topping
Sprinkle over apple mixture
Baking:
Wrap edges of pie with foil to prevent over browning
Place pie on cookie sheet with rim to prevent juices dripping into the oven
Bake for 40-45 minutes, checking part of the way through to be sure the pie is not getting too brown. If it is, add a piece of foil to the top and continue baking
Remove pie when filling is bubbly and topping is golden brown. Apples should be tender
Serve pie warm with a drizzle of caramel topping and ice cream
Store leftovers in refrigerator
