This caramel apple pie recipe has a delightful topping! Caramel apple pie filling is easy to make and makes the perfect dessert for any season!

Ingredients
  • 1 single pie crust
Filling:
  • 7 cups (6-7 medium apples) Granny Smith apples, cleaned and sliced
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • ½ cup white granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons apple pie spice or 1 teaspoon cinnamon, ¾ teaspoon ground nutmeg and ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ½ cup caramel topping plus additional for garnish
Topping:
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup oats, quick cooking
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ cup pecans, chopped
  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened
Instructions
  1. Roll out pie crust and form into pie plate
Filling:
  1. Slice apples and place in large bowl
  2. Add lemon juice and stir to coat
  3. Add sugar, flour, salt and apple pie spice
  4. Stir to combine well
  5. Add apple mixture to pie crust
  6. Drizzle with ½ cup caramel topping
Topping:
  1. In a medium bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon and nutmeg
  2. Stir in pecans
  3. Add butter to form crumb topping
  4. Sprinkle over apple mixture
Baking:
  1. Wrap edges of pie with foil to prevent over browning
  2. Place pie on cookie sheet with rim to prevent juices dripping into the oven
  3. Bake for 40-45 minutes, checking part of the way through to be sure the pie is not getting too brown. If it is, add a piece of foil to the top and continue baking
  4. Remove pie when filling is bubbly and topping is golden brown. Apples should be tender
  5. Serve pie warm with a drizzle of caramel topping and ice cream
  6. Store leftovers in refrigerator
