A 5-star recipe for Reese's Double Peanut Butter Layered Cake topped with peanut butter frosting, Reese's Pieces, and Reese's peanut butter cups! Great for any birthday or holiday party!
Combine ½ cup peanut butter and ½ cup butter in the bowl of a stand mixer (or use a hand mixer) and cream until light and fluffy.
Add in eggs, one at time, beating well after each.
Add cake mix alternately with the milk. Mix until just combined . Pour batter into prepared pans.
Bake at 325 degrees F for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. Check at 25 minutes.
Allow cakes to cool in pan for 10 minutes and then turn out onto a cooling rack to cool completely. Stack one cake on top of the other, putting a layer of frosting in between, and frost the top and sides with Peanut Butter Frosting once cake is completely cool.
Peanut Butter Frosting:
Combine 1 cup peanut butter, and ½ cup butter and cream together until light and fluffy.
Add the confectioner's sugar. Mix in enough cream to make the frosting of a spreading consistency. Apply to cool cake.
Top with Reese's peanut butter cups and/or Reese's Pieces (optional).
