Recipe type: side dish
Cuisine: American
Serves: 4
Ingredients
  • 2 cups miniature shell shaped pasta
  • 2 cups milk (I used 2%)
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (I used Cabot)
  • ¼ cup apple butter (homemade or store-bought)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
  1. Combine the uncooked pasta, milk, and garlic powder in a 5-quart heavy-bottomed pot.
  2. Bring the mixture to a soft boil and reduce heat to low.
  3. Stir frequently so the bottom doesn't burn and cook until the milk has been absorbed by the pasta and is soft. This takes 15-20 minutes.
  4. Stir in the cheese and apple butter.
  5. Remove from heat and let sit, covered, for 5 minutes as to let the cheese fully melt.
  6. Stir once more and season with salt and pepper before serving. Serve warm.
